Hidesign plans retail and product expansion strategies

Homegrown leather handbags and accessories brand Hidesign, which has created a foothold in the global market, is chalking out a strategy to rejig its export, drive sales in the country by adding new product categories as well as retail avenues from exclusive store, MBOs and ecommerce platform.

For now, 20 percent of the Rs 160 crores revenues at Hidesign's Indian retail business is being driven by ecommerce segment which has witnessed a rise from 1percent to 20 percent in just a year’s time. The company believes the advent of ecommerce has enabled brands like Hidesign to expand its reach to untapped regions like Tier II and Tier III towns.

Hidesign also plans to invest Rs 8-10 crores to open around 10-12 store, out of which, some would be placed at hi-end properties like airport. The company, currently operates around 71 stores across India. To cater to rising demand and its store expansion plans, it would also open a new factory in Assam.

The brand’s leather collection on offer includes handbags, clutches, briefcases, laptop cases, wallets and belts. Hidesign can also be found at premium international outlets, including John Lewis and House of Fraser in the UK, Myers and David Jones in Australia, Stuttafords and Edgars in South Africa, Lifestyle and Shoppers Stop in India and Parkson, Robinsons and Isetan in Southeast Asia.
