Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi has launched ‘Zeven’, a multi-sport, multi-product and multi-channel brand. Along with former Nike country manager South Asia, Hemchandra Javeri, Bhupathi will focus on sports like hockey, cricket, football, badminton and tennis. The idea is to build a sports community in the country where people can discuss, play and live sports. The best products will be offered at affordable prices which will be tailor made for India. Zeven has started with footwear and apparel and will later expand to other segments in the coming months. In the last 1-2 years, the company has spent USD 4-5 million in research and trials.

Javeri informed that the products would be produced in India but sourcing will be done globally. The footwear will be made in China while the apparel will be manufactured in India, Sri Lanka and other countries. The products will be designed as per the Indian body, size, fit and comfort.

The company will sell the products through its own portal and is also looking at retailing through modern offline retail as well as sports focussed stores. It is also planning to set up sports addas to help enthusiasts meet and connect with sports icons.

Bhupathi hopes that Zeven will become a brand that the country will be proud of.
