Massimo Dutti, to open its first store in New Delhi

Spanish premium brand Massimo Dutti, Zara’s sister brand, will be launching its first store in India next week. The store will open in New Delhi’s Select City Walk Mall and it will come two years after the government gave the nod for FDI. The store will open on May 13, 2016 and will be spread out over 5027 square feet.

The store will house womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories and personal tailoring. This will be the first time that the Spanish premium brand is foraying into the Indian market at the behest of Inditex, the Spanish retail group that owns the brand. In September 2013, India approved a proposal by Spain’s Inditex SA to sell its Massimo Dutti line of clothing, apparel, footwear and other products. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) cleared the proposal as part of a go-ahead to 15 foreign direct investment plans.

Globally, Massimo Dutti has 755 stores across 73 countries. Among the eight brands that Inditex owns, Massimo Dutti is the second to enter the Indian market, after the grand success of Zara.
