Paytm sees four fold growth in fashion, apparel category

The fashion and apparels category at online portal Paytm has grown more than four times year over year. The orders have grown from three lakh a month to two million orders a month during the same time with over 50 per cent of the volume contributed by fashion and accessories products.

The company is already doing a significant share of online business for some of the partner brands. Paytm is amongst the top two online channel partners for brands such as Nivea with over 15 per cent market share, Spykar with over 30 per cent market share, Trendin where it contributes to more than 50 per cent of their marketplace volumes. It is also working closely with Unilever, L’Oreal, Only, Vero Moda and Jack & Jones.

The company already has 1,000 brand stores that are live with them where the brands directly control the merchandising, pricing and promotions and invest in marketing their products on the platform. More than half of the stores belong to fashion brands. Sudhanshu Gupta, vice president, Paytm, points out that the cumulative spend by the brands on the platform is already above Rs one crore per month and is increasing at a 50 per cent rate month on month.

Paytm is hopeful of becoming the market leader in the category and for this will continue adding brands and SMEs from across the country. For this it has already set aside a budget of Rs 200 crores.
