Renfro is presently only into socks, primarily casual and semi-formal. Recently, they created a new range of socks under ‘Comporto’, a totally formal collection of socks. This one was done to fill up the void in formal section and the desire to be known as a complete socks brand. In-house the brand produces 200,000 pairs per day.
A variety to spoil consumers
Renfro, which has a tie up with Shoppers Stop and Future Group, has a category-wise expansion which is far bigger than any other player’s in the country. The variety that is on offer is huge, from casual, formal, semi-formal to sports. In addition, big international brands are under their umbrella. As a result they are able to offer customers a wide choice in socks compared to other manufacturers in India. Also, to reach out to more customers, they regularly update and educate their clients.
Retail is big, place for many players
“The Indian retail market is booming at present and flooded with brands. However, to make one’s presence felt, a brand with a good reputation and competitive prices can stand apart. People are conscious of good brands and they have the money to spend on good quality. All these factors have helped Renfro to make a place for itself in this ever growing market. Today, Renfro has 8,000 MBOs and an impressive network of 300 distributors,” says V Giriraj, GM (Sales) India subcontinent, Renfro India and adds, “We are consolidating, and Renfro is going to be a strong player in innerwear and socks segment in the near future.” The brand is available in almost every large format store in the country, and Giriraj believes MBOs will help them grow.
Renfro India was first set up in 1997 and later in 2002, it was acquired by Renfro Corporation US. A year later Renfro India obtained a manufacturing unit in Nashik and increased its capacity to more than 30,000 pairs of socks per day.
