Japanese retailer Ryohin Keikaku has entered into a joint venture with Reliance Brands to open two MUJI stores in India. It is the first Japanese store that has received individual approval for foreign direct investment from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
With this partnership, MUJI becomes the first Japanese store in India. Two stores will be opened in India, one in Mumbai and the other in Bangalore. MUJI Palladium in Mumbai will be the first location while MUJI VR Mall in Bangalore will be the second. With these two stores, Ryohin Keikaku will share the MUJI concept of a simple and pleasant life.
Ryohin Keikaku is a lifestyle company. MUJI products came up in 1980 with the aim to create quality products at low prices. The idea is to develop products that are truly fundamental to day-to-day life. And to achieve this, often neglected materials are looked at, the production process is streamlined and packaging is simplified to create simple, beautiful products that people can cherish for life. MUJI goods and services are designed with both consumers and manufacturers in mind. At Ryohin Keikaku, the focus is to bring pleasure to people and beauty to their lives as well as contribute to the society too.
