Spykar to step into footwear space

Spykar, India’s leading apparel and accessories brand will now enter the footwear business by 2017. It maybe recalled that Spykar had launched women’s wear in August. Spykar offers a wide range of garments for the age group below 30. The company manufactures 1.3 million units of denims per year and is growing 30 percent year-on-year. Spykar was acquired by Bagri Group in 2014. The brand that works on both a retail and franchise business model will outsource manufacturing and keep price points between Rs 600 and Rs 2,500.

The brand opened in 1992. With a turnover of Rs 245 crores, Spykar expects to have about 200 stores across 10 cities with a distribution network reaching 1,000 outlets. Denim is core business for the company and this has been facilitated by the company’s in-house processing unit and gives it competitive edge in consistently producing denims of international quality.

The company experiments a lot with new styles and accessories, making them trendy and accessible to the Indian consumer. Since Spykar designs specifically for Indian audiences, it has the best fits and designs in its repertoire. Spykar is increasing its offline presence, going omni channel with the launch of its e-commerce portal, and exploring export options.
