Bata Q2 net profit up 38.74 percent

Footwear major Bata India has reported a 38.74 percent rise in net profit at Rs 54.11 crores for the second quarter ended September 30, 2015. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 39 crores during the same period of previous fiscal.
Net sales increased to Rs 575.15 crores for the quarter compared with Rs 547.64 crores during the same period of previous fiscal, Bata India said in a regulatory filing. The company plans to further expand its product offering, focusing on the same-store growth and strengthening ecommerce business to reach out to a larger consumer base.
Bata India is looking forward to grow its store network across the country trough franchises over the next five years. The aim is to reach out to the customers across the country amid tough competition from home-grown and global footwear players. The plan also includes enhancing product assortment under its portfolio in the outdoor category alongside ballerina, comfort and sportswear segment.
