Launched in 2004, Boom Jeans is known for its wide range of jeggings and leggings. “These are our USP and jeggings and leggings contribute most of our business. You will not find a retailer in Mumbai, who would not have our jeggings. Such is the prominence we have in this category,” says Rajesh Gala, Proprietor, Boom Jeans.

“Business has been positive compared to past few years. While competition is on the rise, we are witnessing 15 to 20 percent growth and expect to achieve the same in upcoming years,” opines Gala.

Turnover, presence and future plans

Since Boom Jeans makes garments, its business depends on the bookings done across the country. Production happens depending on orders placed. By next season, Boom Jeans might make its range available on online platforms, while focusing on state-wise expansion. It has about 700 to 800 MBOs.

With current turnover of about Rs 20 crores, the company aims to reach a target of Rs 30 crores this year. Gala is planning to make additions to existing portfolio. “We are still working on it, we got a research team which is engaged in the task. As soon as we come across something matching our sensibilities and capacities, we will definitely give it a shape,” he asserts.

While the market is undoubtedly challenging, the key is to keep innovating and bringing exclusive products, to create a buffer between the competitors and you.

New collection for the season

For Winter/Festive season, Boom Jeans has used jacquards prints for its collection. It has introduced cigarette pants in a new fabric - a blend of georgette and cotton. “We have tearing denim this time with around 70 to 80 kind of washes. We also used velvet corduroy and indigo corduroy fabrics. We have experimented with these fabrics by giving different washes to it. Jeggings are our core area of expertise, so we have about 70 to 80 designs in it. In tops, we have made maxis in printed and plain material, crop tops and knee-length tops. In winters, knee length tops create a good demand while in summer crop tops do well in terms of business,” says Gala, elaborating on the collection.

Denim being its core area of expertise, the company has experimented with its denim line. The brand offers jog denim, jacquard denim, plain denim, and velvet denim in a variety of washes. Palazzos are also part of the collection since they are in trend since last couple of years. “We give different washes to the denims keeping their texture and usability in mind. This time we have introduced a kind of denim fabric which will not become dull even after 20 washes. Palazzos are in cotton, georgette, velvet, prints and chicken fabric. Chicken fabric is usually used for kurtis but we have made palazzos out of it,” adds Gala.

He says, this season earthy colours are more in demand such as khakis, brown, beige, and green etc and bright shades are not attracting much response. “Two years back buyers asked for bright colours. We do researches on global and domestic level before coming out with the line,” he states.

The company creates all types of bottom wear from shorts, ankle-length shorts, jeans, leggings, jeggings to palazzos. The entire range is available in many fabrics’ compositions like cotton, prints and jacquards. Many fancy fabrics are also utilized.
