Co-optex ties up with Flipkart to expand base

The 80-year-old Co-optex is teaming up with ecommerce major Flipkart to promote its finest products and reach out to a large consumer base across the globe. Co-optex recently launched its renovated ‘Gandhimathi Co-optex Showroom’ at Tirunelveli Junction.

This summer, Co-optex will organise ‘Cool Comfort’ exhibitions in prime cities across Tamil Nadu eyeing to drive a sale of Rs 33 crores during the season. The aim is to achieve a sales target of Rs 325 crores, this fiscal year. The society is also investing in revamping its showrooms to woo customers. Rs 8 crore would be spent on renovating 15 Co-optex showrooms during this fiscal.

The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society, popularly known as Co-optex recently announced sale of saris woven with organic cotton at its offline stores as well as online platform Cooptex.com. The saris have been woven by 22 weavers from Vadambacherry. The range was first launched in Chennai followed by Coimbatore. With plans to expand its presence in major metros, Co-optex also wants to develop more cotton cultivation centres to source organic cotton. For now, it sources organic cotton from places such as Hosur and Pollachi and the processing is done in Erode with natural dyes and woven at Vadambacherry.
