Dollar Industries, a well established name in innerwear segment, is now looking at spreading out in more Tier I and II cities. Also on its agenda, is the launch of new products to spread brand presence.

Adding more to its product basket

“The company has some products in the pipeline which will be launched soon. New Age gym vests, designer briefs will be added for men,” says Vinod Kumar Gupta, Managing Director. Dollar has always stayed in tune with the latest fashion. It ranks among the top hosiery and garments manufacturers in India. “Dollar products have gone beyond the country’s boundaries. Having consolidated our position in Gulf countries we are now aggressively looking at the rest of the world with collections that promise to redefine style,” he says.

The brand caters to men, women and children across all age groups in the middle and upper income category. “In innerwear segment, basic wear is dominant. For Dollar, the ratio is 70:30. This is so because of an increase in purchasing power and frequency of purchase among Indian consumers. Consumers have become more fashion conscious and want to change or upgrade their wardrobe more frequently. As a result, there is dominance of fashion based products.”

On the need for specific products in innerwear segment, Gupta says, “We have season specific products. For winter, we launched a premium range of thermal wear. And for summer, there are products in vibrant colours and attractive patterns. Buyers are now more conscious and specific about their needs. They segregate their clothing as per occasion and season. This widens the possibilities for new, season based product lines.” Bigboss, Club, Myme, Force Go Wear, Force Denim, Missy, Ultra, Ultra Thermals, Champion, Kids Care, Footprints and Wintercare are its range.

The history of brand Dollar goes back to 1972-73, when Dindayal Gupta stared his proprietary firm, Bhawani Textiles. After walking a long path with remarkable changes in hosiery business, Bhawani textiles turned into Bhawani Textiles in 2005. Soon after, it became Dollar Industries in 2008. The company began its journey with its signature brand ‘Dollar’. Then Dollar Club range was introduced it offered fine vest and briefs which added mileage to the brand. But with Dollar Bigboss, the brand achieved ultimate popularity. Later Dollar introduced Kids Care, Champio, Missy and casual wear ‘Force’. Dollar also brings ‘MyMe’, light weight cotton innerwear termed as ‘Designer Undershirt’.
