G.H.Bass on 150 years, and the commercial case for authenticity in a crowded loafer market

G.H.Bass is celebrating two anniversaries at once in 2026: It’s been 150 years since George Henry Bass entered the shoe-making business in Wilton, Maine, in 1876, and 90 years of the Weejuns penny loafer, introduced in 1936. The brand is commemorating both with a limited-edition capsule collection, released in select quantities and carrying a specially minted anniversary penny.
