H&M warns UK support staff of potential job cuts

Swedish fashion giant H&M has informed around 250 employees in its UK support offices about a proposed reorganisation and consultation process that could result in job losses, according to Retail Gazette.

The retailer noted that the 250 figure refers to employees who received the communication and "does not represent the number of roles that may be affected". No proposed redundancy figure has been disclosed while consultations remain ongoing.

H&M told the media outlet that the changes form part of wider organisational restructuring across its sales markets and central sales organisation, aimed at reducing complexity and moving decision-making closer to customers.

The move follows H&M Group's six-month results in June, which showed higher profits despite falling revenue as the retailer prioritised margins over sales volume. CEO Daniel Ervér said the results reflected "continued progress in our transformation", with the group focused on building a "more relevant and profitable company".
