India-based clothing apparel manufacturer is sued by both Microsoft and Adobe

The dispute between Indian clothing factory Pratibha Syntex Ltd. and Microsoft Corp. and Adobe systems Inc. has been solved. The factory, which exports a significant amount of clothing to the U.S, was accused of not paying licensing fees for both of those softwares. The lawsuit, which has been ongoing, recently just came to a settlement.

The use of those softwares was counted as IP theft. Because of this, California Attorney General Kamala Harris sued the company in 2013. According to California Apparel News, Pratibha was charged for not paying for the software that helped the company’s daily operations. Using both Microsoft and Adobe, the manufacturer was able to operate their apparel facility including over 3,500 sewing machines.

The case was settled when Pratibha agreed to pay 100,000 dollars and finish four audits of its software in order to fix any violations. However, although Pratibha agreed to fix the problem and pay the fine, the Indian clothing manufacturer has yet to admit to committing illegal acts.
