Kering slumps - L'Oréal slightly stabilises consumer goods

Kering shares slumped on Friday. They most recently fell by 11 percent, marking their lowest level since July 2025. This resulted in another negative surprise within the luxury segment. Just the day before, Hermès shares had fallen after its figures failed to convince. In the wake of Kering's decline, other stocks in the sector such as LVMH and Richemont also weakened ahead of the weekend.

Once again, the Gucci brand was the main focus at Kering. Analysts at Deutsche Bank Research emphasised that a business turnaround remains difficult as long as there is no convincing stabilisation at the label. The focus is now on awaiting the full-year figures. It will then become clear whether cost savings are having a positive impact.

By contrast, a bright spot came from L'Oréal, whose shares sit alongside luxury stocks in the consumer goods sector. Here, the stock rose by 4 percent. The shares thus built on their recent upward breakout, marking their highest level since mid-2024. Analysts at Jefferies described the third-quarter figures as impressive. The cosmetics group significantly exceeded consensus estimates.
