Marimekko: strong international business drives third-quarter sales growth
Finnish textile group Marimekko Corporation recorded growth in both revenue and profit in the third quarter of the 2026 financial year. The company attributed this positive development to its continued strong international performance.
According to an interim report published on Wednesday, revenue from July to September totalled 52.1 million euros (58.7 million dollars). This represents an increase of 3 percent year-over-year.
Strong international business remains key growth driver
In its domestic Finnish market, however, business continued to suffer from challenging market conditions. Domestic revenue fell by 9 percent to 25.1 million euros. Nevertheless, these declines were more than offset by strong international demand; international sales grew by 16 percent to 27.1 million euros, driven by growth across all regions.
In Scandinavia, revenue rose by 16 percent to seven million euros, while in the rest of Europe it increased by 24 percent to 4.5 million euros. In North America, Marimekko achieved a 29 percent increase to 3.5 million euros, and in the Asia-Pacific region, sales grew by 10 percent to 12 million euros.
Supported by the increase in revenue and a slightly improved margin, comparable operating profit rose by 3 percent to 13 million euros. Net profit stood at 10.2 million euros, exceeding the prior-year level by 4 percent.
Management reaffirms full-year guidance and warns of uncertainties
In the first nine months of the year, group revenue increased by 2 percent to 137.5 million euros. Net profit grew by 3 percent to 17.9 million euros.
In light of these figures, management confirmed its full-year guidance. It continues to expect YoY revenue growth and a comparable operating profit margin in the range of 16 to 19 percent.
At the same time, however, the company warned of ongoing uncertainties. The development of consumer confidence and purchasing power in the company's main markets is causing significant volatility, according to a statement. The market situation continues to be heavily influenced by “rapid changes and uncertainties in geopolitics and global trade policy”.
