Rupa’a standalone net profit goes up 1.84 precent in Q2

Rupa has reported net sales decline of 7.08 per cent to touch Rs 249.46 crore during the quarter ended September 30, 2017, as compared to Rs 268.90 crore during the period ended September 30, 2016. Net profit is up 1.84 percent to touch Rs 21.60 crore as against Rs 21.22 crore during the previous quarter ended September 2016. For the six month period ended September 30, 2017, the company’s net sales are Rs 413.98 crore while net profit touched Rs 30.88 crore.

The company manufactures men’s and women’s innerwear, thermal wear and casual wear. Rupa, which opened in 1985, is a Rs 1000 crore plus company with market capitalisation of more than Rs 2,350 crore. It has over 18 brands and 8,000 stock keeping units.

In the innerwear industry, the company is a leader, with a distribution network across India. It has a pan-India presence with a large distribution network consisting of four central warehouses, six EBOs, 20 branches, 1,000 dealers and more than 1,18,000 retailers. It is also looking at enhancing retail spread through a mix of e-commerce sites, MBOs and large format retail stores. The company is also looking to opening EBOs through the franchise mode across India and expanding its retail footprint.
