Fashion wear Richlook reported a growth of 30 per cent last year and is now aggressively looking at achieving 40 per cent growth this year. The shirt maker who is in the business for more than 25 years is also looking at being present in more MBOs and LFS.
Linen makes a perfect cut
In their long history of making shirts, Richlook has seen demand for linen shirts go up in recent years. Pure cotton shirts are not so much in demand nowadays because they are difficult to maintain during the rainy season. Linen sells big during the summer months, winter is dull for this fabric. The fabric is popular among customers in the age group 25-50 years. It is one of the fabrics that have been doing well for some time now. Richlook has been doing linen shirts in both formal and casual.
Shirts make the man
Richlook makes both casual and formal wear shirts. For casuals, it uses pure cotton fabric. Printed cotton shirts are in the ratio of 30 per cent while those with checks are in the 70 per cent range. In formals, stripes, checks and plain are available. Checks are 20 per cent of the collection while plain and stripes are 40 per cent each. Formal wear shirts are made mostly in cotton and PC fabric. Richlook also has clubwear in bright fancy yarn and different types of cotton. The target audience for these are 25 to 50 year olds. The company has now diversified into denim jeans and formal suits.
Shiv Ratan Goyal, Director, Richlook says, “We are presently only into casuals and formals. We haven’t thought of getting into semi-formals or semi-casuals. We believe that if the product is good, then you have your work done.”
The shirt market, as Goyal points out, has grown over the years. Richlook today has 45 exclusive stores and 3,500 MBOs all across India.
