Splash perks up India presence, plans more stores

Splash, one of the largest fashion retailers in West Asia, is planning to
set up around 35 stores in the next three to four years across India. The
company will increase its turnover, in India, to Rs 500 crores. Currently
Splash has 15 stores in India and it plans to take the number up to 50 in
the next three to four years. The company would also focus more on the north
and western parts of the country. Of the new stores, around 90 percent
would be stores, which would sell only Splash brands. So far Splash has
been a metro brand but now it will go to Tier II.
Typically, the company’s stores spread over 7,000 to 7,500 square feet and all are company owned. The company, which currently operates in around 14 countries, has adopted the franchise route in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa. In India, 80 percent of the sales come from the company’s brand and the rest comes from other brands. Splash India has set a target of closing the fiscal with a turnover of around Rs 100 crores as compared to Rs 55 crores a year ago. With 50 stores, the turnover is expected to touch would be around Rs 500 crores.
