Toonz Retail chases turnover of Rs 100 crores by FY2017-18

Kidswear retailer Toonz Retail plans to open 50 stores in two years as it looks at achieving a turnover of Rs 100 crores by fiscal 2017-18. It’ll also open 50 stores of its new apparel brand Super Young by next year. The new brand will try to cover the existing gap in the apparel offerings in the market.
The new brand will be opened in smaller stores in metro cities and in premium shopping malls. This will help to bring in positioning change of the new brand. Presently, the company operates 100 Toonz Retail outlets in South and North India. The company is looking at expanding its international presence by entering new markets. It has one operational store in Saudi Arabia and two more are planned in September this year. They are looking at markets like GCC countries, Egypt and Mexico. The company also supplies its products to Fiji, Mauritius and Nepal.
Toonz Retail expects Super Young to contribute 18-19 per cent to its total sales. It plans to invest Rs 20 crore for expansion. The sum will be used for brand building and development of new products.
Toonz Retail is a one-stop shop for all children’s needs. It was conceptualised in 2010 and it opened its first store in Total Mall Bengaluru. It has 95 stores across 50 cities in states such as Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh.
