Apparel brand US Polo crossed the Rs 1,000 crores sales mark in India in the fiscal ending March 31. The brand came to India less than five years ago. Arvind Retail opened the first US Polo store in India in 2011 and has since added nearly 230 more. The 750 square feet store at Select City Walk in Delhi on an average rakes in Rs 225 per square feet a day.
The company plans to open one US Polo store every week over the next few years as a part of Arvind’s broader push to grow its retail business. Two factors have worked: it is more casual driven and less about fashion and, second, it is a value international brand and well positioned on price, which appeals to a wider audience. The iconic logo with two polo players on horses helped too. India is possibly the fastest growing market for the brand by sales and stores addition.
US Polo, established in 1870, is a lifestyle brand inspired by the game of polo. US Polo carries clothing for men, women and children, as well as accessories, luggage, watches, shoes, home furnishings and more. It is the first brand to be launched in India representing a super premium lifestyle and approachable premium pricing.
