YKK India begins construction of third manufacturing plant in Southern India

Japanese zipper manufacturer YKK Corporation (YKK) held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 25, 2026, to mark the start of construction on a new manufacturing plant for its subsidiary YKK India Private Limited (YKK India) in southern India. Approximately 40 participants, including YKK India managing director Jin Deguchi, attended the event.

The facility represents the third Indian manufacturing plant for YKK India and will be located at the Origins by Mahindra industrial park near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The state-of-the-art facility will integrate advanced technologies from YKK to serve domestic demand as well as export-oriented manufacturing markets across the region.

The new location will operate in coordination with the two existing plants of YKK India situated in Haryana, northern India. Through the investment, YKK aims to expand regional employment opportunities, contribute to the local community and build a production network capable of addressing a wide range of customer requirements as India continues its growth as a global textile and apparel manufacturing hub.
