‘India Modern’ will be the theme of the grand finale at the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016. The grand finale will take place on March 20 at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.
Designers such as Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rahul Mishra, Aneeth Arora, Abraham & Thakore, Anju Modi, Samant Chauhan, Rohit and Rahul, Amit Aggarwal, Pankaj and Nidhi will showcase five to six ensembles which will have New Age interpretations of India design elements and textiles, silhouettes and craftsmanship in tones of indigo blues, earthy hues and white.
The idea behind the theme, as Susan Saideman, Vice President, Global Vendor Management, Amazon, says is to bring to the fore the modern face of India as against the much hyped India of past with its rich culture and heritage. The theme connects ethnicity with modernity so as to match both modern and traditional fashion sensibilities. Amazon India has launched India Modern store on its website for the ‘fashion forward’ customers. It showcase gorgeous and delicate handcrafted work of art which aim to bring back the traditional textiles in new light. Sunil Sethi, President, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is happy that India Modern is being presented with the aim of reviving ‘India’s rich craft traditions and representing them with a modernistic, revivalist approach’.
