Designer Ritu Beri to design uniform for railway staff

The Indian Railways staff will soon be sporting designer uniforms. Fashion designer Ritu Beri will be designing uniforms for the employees of the railway including station master, train ticket examiner and guard. Beri has been roped in to give the railways a distinct identity with a style.

Railway Board Chairman AK Mittal informs that the designer will design new uniform for all railway employees who will have direct interface with public. So all staff dealing with customers such as personnel involved in ticket and parcel booking and onboard staff will have new uniform now. In addition to this, Beri will also give a common uniform which can be used by all employees including senior officials of the national transporters. Common uniform can be used for ceremonial occasions like celebration of Railway Day.

The collection will also include saris and T-shirts to offer a complete package to the railways. She will make her presentation in July. She is reported to be designing it all for free. Earlier, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) had designed interior of the coaches and selected the colour schemes for new trains such as Tejas, Hamsafar and Uday service.
