As the highly anticipated and highly debated seventh episode to the Star Wars film saga, The Force Awakens, opens in theatres across the globe today, FashionUnited takes a moment to gather a number of the most interesting fashion initiatives taken by brands and retailers who were keen in cash in on the marketing and merchandising boom. Fashion influencers receive an intergalactic make-over

Stylight took the opportunity to remake a number of high profile industry makers into Star Wars style icons. British fashion designer, Victoria Beckham was so pleased by her futuristic makeover as 'Darth Victoria' that she shared the resulting picture with her followers on Instagram.

Selfridges Fashion Finds the Force auction

British department store group Selfridges released a special Star Wars fashion collection which was crafted by iconic designers such as J.W Anderson and Peter Pilotto and went up for auction. Although bidding for the collection is now closed, the proceeds raised are set to go to charity.

Uniqlo hails Star Wars jacket and slippers

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo launched a complete Star Wars range for men and children, which included Darth Vader t-shirts, hoodies and slippers. Uniqlo even applied the Star Wars touch to one of it's most iconic items - the quilted down feather jacket.

Yedi body suit at Forever 21

Looking for something a little more trendy than a printed t-shirt? Then look no further than LA-based fast-fashion retailer Forever 21. In honour of the movie release, the teen retailer has launched a collection of crop tops, dressed and body suits with Star Wars motifs.

Star Wars fun at Irregular Choice

Online footwear and accessories retailer Irregular Choice has launched a pair of chunky platform ankle boots featuring a Darth Vader heel as well as metallic C-3PO loafers.

Bloomingdale's 'Force 4 Fashion'

Another department store group used the film's launch as a starting point to create a unique collection to raise funds for charity. US department store Bloomingdale's asked 11 designers, including Giles Deacon and Diane Von Furstenberg to create looks based on the film's new and old charcters. The resulting outfits are currently on display at the flagship store on Third Avenue in New York. Bidding is open via charitybuzz.com.

Disney Vader scarves

Graphic designer Emma J Shipley is offering luxurious wollen scarves in collaboration with Disney. These unisex scarves are decorated with hand made portraits of Darth Vader and scenes taken from the oringal film series.
