World-renowned French footwear designer Christian Louboutin says India fascinate people from foreign shores with its indigenous content. This because designers in India are continuously exploring their roots and the things that you see in India, one cannot see them anywhere else. In his words he has seen a different aspect of fashion industry in India, but what there is a strong identity in the Indian fashion which is based on one very simple thing and it is the re-attachment to its roots.

It may be recalled that Louboutin has teamed up with Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for a bespoke range of shoes and handbags. He says how Indian fashion is painting a story that is making waves worldwide. Though he loved fashion, it is not his first obsession. The designer has come a long way from a single store in Paris in 1991 to become a name across the world. Louboutin, whose father was a carpenter, made red-soles his trademark. While growing up, Louboutin spent a year in India before heading to Paris in 1981. But fashion was not on his mind when he first came to India. Elaborating on this, he observed when he was in India, there were so many things that he wanted to see other than fashion but ended up really looking at fashion.

Louboutin was quick enough to add that it doesn't mean that when you are attached to your roots, you are not thinking or are not evolving. He has designed shoes for a long list of celebs including Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez. As for designing Bollywood stars, Louboutin feels its all about sparkle and glitz, the designer wants them to approach his brand, and not the other way around.
