Marcolin and Timberland renew eyewear licence until 2031
Marcolin and Tbl Licensing Llc have signed the renewal of their multi-year licensing agreement for the design, production and global distribution of Timberland branded sunglasses and optical frames. The agreement extends the partnership for an additional five years, setting the new expiry date to 2031 and consolidating a business relationship that began in 2003.
The contract extension aims to strengthen the brand's presence in the optics segment. It will leverage Marcolin's global distribution network, which includes Timberland monobrand boutiques; specialised opticians; independent points-of-sale and e-commerce channels. The collections will continue to incorporate stylistic elements linked to the brand's heritage and the use of bio-based materials.
“The renewal of the agreement for a further five years confirms the solidity of the relationship and the common strategic vision that has long guided the partnership, with the aim of continuing to create value and strengthen the brand's presence in the eyewear segment,” reads the joint statement released by the two companies.
The move is part of Marcolin's strategy to consolidate its licensing portfolio within the optical and sun accessories sector. This is a significant area for Timberland's brand positioning outside of its core footwear and apparel business.
