Wardrobes need to be summer and IPL ready and designer Nachiket Barve has tips to prep up well to tackle the onslaught of the heat. As per him, the most common summers dressing mistakes is overdressing, wearing tight clothes and too many products on the face and hair. Breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen, cellulose-inspired ones, chiffons, georgettes, Chanderis and voiles are his recommended choices of cool fabrics. Barve offesr puts forth five stylish ways, one can dress up this summer.

Prints are eternal he says. So stripes and florals are the prints that fashion world’s going gaga about. He suggest play with prints. Go for dainty beautiful flowers or large bold prints. These add little pops of colour on a dressy background. Nautical style is his other favourite. Typical old sailor Breton stripes, sailor knotted elements are classy and comfy at the same time.

He suggests layering up for summer as well. Contrary to popular belief, layering isn’t strictly restricted to winters alone. He says, put together lots of thin layers. Go for a thin knitwear vest, throw on a mull shirt over it and add a scarf in a gossamer finish. This style of dressing can help complement different environments. Being different with bottom wear is another tip. While shorts are a great way of keeping cool one can’t wear them for formal occasions. So lightweight denim, palazzos, chinos, draped silhouettes such could be the choice. Try ethnic with a modern twist, as Barve feels experimenting and blending influences work. Saris, he says, are a comfortable choice for summer, depending on what fabric they are made of. And of course, accessorise properly as add-ons can actually make or break a rule. His list of must-haves for summer includes espadrilles, bracelets and aviators (mirrored ones).
