The London Fashion Week from September 15 to 20 will feature designers from the UK, Singapore, the Netherlands, Italy and the US. This is where Meghalaya's traditional and organic silk Ryndia will be on display along with the best textiles from around the world. Importantly, Khasi designer Rupert Lynrah would showcase his designs at LFW.

Lynrah would be presenting traditional Khasi-Jaintia attire with a modern twist in the Spring/Summer 2017 show through his fashion house ‘RwL Designs’. Lynrah is confident that organic Ryndia will make an impact as he is the only designer from India who will be showcasing his work at the show. Ryndia featured in his designs, is a traditional indigenous textile derived from a silkworm reared in rural Meghalaya. Salient feature of Ryndia is that it is warm in winter and cool in summer like a natural product. It is because of its rustic nature, Ryndia might look lifeless, but once the fabric is given a form and a twist with some overlay, like embroidery or lace details, it can raise the value of the product, Lynrah says.

Lynrah's RwL Designs, was launched in 2012 and is aimed at promoting traditional fashions of the Khasi-Jaintia community. The designer has nearly a decade experience behind him.
