Fashion entrepreneur and a leading style icon, Pernia Qureshi launched her festive Summer/Resort ’16 collection, Amrapali. Qureshi had also launched a fashion website, Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop that showcases over a 100 designers and is available to global audience.
The collection has been inspired by the yesteryear Hindi movie Amrapali which had actress Vyjanthimala playing a courtesan. The collection is a modern take on the royal collection from the film. It is, as Qureshi explains, a fun and young collection.
The collection was showcased at Four Seasons, Mumbai and leading names from the world of fashion and Bollywood attended the show. Actress Sonam Kapoor was the showstopper at the event. The style worn by Kapoor had an ethereal feel but was extremely wearable. Kapoor managed to lend a soft fluidity to the theme and silhouette that reflected the backdrop of the era.
Qureshi is a leading stylist who has worked with international magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Conde Nast in New York and New Delhi. She even designed costumes for Bollywood movie Aisha and has written a book Be Stylish with Pernia Qureshi.
