Sabyasachi teams up with Christian Louboutin once more

India's top couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee has joined hands with Christian Louboutin yet again. This is the second time the duo comes together. Their first collaborative line was titled ‘Bater’, launched last year in July. This time the collection of women’s and men’s shoes and bags is stamped with their signature styles and infused with glamor.

Last year, Bater was a dark and gothic affair with sexual hints. This time, the range is a bit of everything, with a lot more whimsy. There is a goth element to it, there is a rock star element to it, there is travel element to it, there is something very simple and conservative, there is something very sexy, there is something practical and then there is something completely insane.

Sabyasachi doesn't believe in building and collections anymore and wants to build specific things for specific people. The Kolkata-based designer works on traditional craft techniques for his bridal client base. He employs over 3,000 craftsmen in 18 craft clusters in the regions of Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. In 2013, he initiated the ‘Save The Sari’ non-profit endeavor to popularize regional weaves from karigars.
