Shantanu and Nikhil to showcase at London’s Saatchi Gallery

Designers Shantanu and Nikhil will exhibit their autumn/winter 2018 collection ‘Independence’ featuring Indian textiles at the Saatchi Gallery in London this month. They will show a blend of modernity and nostalgia – India through the lens of the millennials. The collection was showcased at the India Couture Week 2018 in Delhi in July, and the designers will be expanding it a bit for the London show, adding more white to the palette.

The collection is an attempt to capture the virtue of India. It has a Nehruvian feel, but is very 21st century, which makes it perfect for the international stage. This marks the second consecutive year when the designers will be showcasing their autumn/winter couture collection in Europe. Last year, they had presented The Regiment, their collection, in Lithuania.

Saatchi is a popular contemporary art space. The gallery is not the traditional ramp. It is much more theatrical and grand. Brothers Shantanu Mehra and Nikhil Mehra founded their eponymous brand in 2000. The pair decided to combine their respective expertise in art and commerce to launch a label that could evolve with the dynamic Indian fashion industry. The brand caters to men and women.
