Canada Goose appoints former Balmain's CEO Massimo Piombini to board of directors

Canada Goose has appointed Massimo Piombini, president and chief executive officer of Italian luxury accessories supplier Cadicagroup, to its board of directors with effect from August 7, 2026.

Piombini was elected at the company's annual and special shareholder meeting held virtually on the same day, drawing 99.98 percent of votes cast in favour, the highest share of the 10 nominees. His election returns the board to 10 members, after director Stephen Gunn retired in November 2025 and reduced it to nine.

Piombini already sits on the board of Canada Goose International, the group's European business, an arrangement Canada Goose says has given him a role advising on the region. The company says his appointment brings expertise in brand building, international growth and retail transformation to its board.

"Massimo has been a valued advisor to our business through his service on the Canada Goose International Board, and we are delighted to welcome him to our Board of Directors," said Dani Reiss, chairman and chief executive officer of Canada Goose, adding that Piombini's experience "leading iconic global brands, scaling international businesses and navigating periods of transformation" would support the company's long-term growth strategy.

Career across luxury, denim and wellness

Piombini has led Cadicagroup, a Carpi-based supplier of labels, tags and packaging to luxury and premium brands owned by investment firm H.I.G. Capital, since early 2025. He was named chief executive officer of Italian denim brand Diesel in December 2019, joining the OTB-owned label the following February, and before that spent close to three years as chief executive of French couture house Balmain.

Earlier roles include chief strategic officer of Italian wellness equipment maker Technogym and chief commercial officer at Italian couture house Valentino and Swiss leather goods brand Bally, following positions at Boucheron, Gucci and Bulgari. He also serves on the board of Italian sports nutrition group Enervit.

"I've seen firsthand the strength of the brand, its culture and its long-term ambitions," Piombini said in a statement, adding that he looked forward to supporting the company as it pursues global growth.
