Flipkart’s VP, Saran Chatterjee puts in his papers

Vice president of products at Flipkart, Saran Chatterjee has put in his paper after serving the company for three years. Chatterjee had joined Flipkart in 2012 and was leading the e-commerce major's product management and design for its consumer experience and platform team.

Before Flipkart, Chatterjee was with Yahoo for about six years in various roles including senior director for global product management, business management and operations director among others. He has also worked with companies like OmegaMobile and Fujitsu Network Communications.

Though industry has been speculating over India's biggest e-commerce firm Flipkart opting for an IPO in a year, company officials refuted the rumours saying, the firm will remain private at least for the next three years. On the other hand, a recent report by Goldman Sachs said that Indian online retailers such as Flipkart and Snapdeal will need to collectively raise another 20 billion dollars (Rs 1.27 lakh crore) over the next five years to be able to sustain growth. Goldman Sachs has also predicted that India will be the second-largest digital market in the world, after China, with the ecommerce market estimated to grow 15 times to 300 billion dollars (by 2030, accounting for 2.5 percent of the GDP by then.
