After reports of its sell-out deal failing to reach a conclusion, Rocket Internet-backed fashion portal Jabong, owned by the Global Fashion Group (GFG) is said to be in talks with Benneton India’s Managing Director Sanjeev Mohanty to shoulder the CEO’s position. As co-founders Praveen Sinha and Arun Chandra Mohan exited the company, Jabong’s global investors have been scouting for a new CEO to give a fresh start to the loss-making venture.

The company has hired former Gaana.com product head Saurabh Goel as its Chief Product Officer, Sumit Jain, former chief technology officer of HT Media’s digital business, as the CTO and Saurabh Srivastava from MobiKwik as the Chief Marketing Officer. Nils Chrestin, interim CEO at Jabong and the CFO of GFG has confirmed the appointments of Goel, Jain and Srivastava.

According to Chrestin, sales around Diwali have been encouraging and Jabong is all set to bounce back towards a profitable and sustainable business. During the nine days of Durga Puja festivities, Jabong has said to have witnessed a 150 percent rise in its ethnic and casual wear categories in east India. Launch of British high-street fashion brands Topshop and Topman along with its latest Autumn/Winter collection under ‘Alia Bhatt for Jabong’ has also helped the portal garner eyeballs in recent months. Between October 22 and October 24, 2015, the company also announced its ‘Super Weekend’ offer.
