In a new development at country’s leading fashion platform Myntra, its COO, Ganesh Subramanian has been assigned a new role of Head-New Initiatives, with immediate effect. Prior to joining Myntra, Subramanian was Vice-President and General Merchandising Manager at the Bharti-Walmart joint-venture. After Flipkart acquired Myntra to strengthen its fashion portfolio, the company is also focusing on building a strong senior level team.

Also, Prasad Kompalli, who is currently heading Sales and Marketing at Myntra, will now take over as Head of Retail. As the Retail Head, Kompalli, who joined Myntra in December 2012, will also look after buying and merchandising, which was a part of Subramanian’s portfolio until now. Flipkart also handed over more responsibility to Myntra founder Mukesh Bansal recently.

Earlier, the company had announced its plan to double its leadership team by the end of this fiscal to drive growth. With an aim of crossing Rs 2,000 crores in gross merchandise value in FY15, Myntra would be a 100-member leadership team across functions by April 2015 all holding positions of associate vice-president and above. The company plans to add about 1,000 professionals to its present 2,000-strong workforce by June 2015. The leadership team will be a mix of seasoned professionals hired from other companies and in-house employees groomed and elevated to the top ranks.
