Sudhir Soundalgekar has been appointed as director of projects at Raymond. Prior to joining Raymond, Soundalgekar worked as a Customer Care Associate & Head- Lifestyle & Specialty Projects with Shoppers Stop for nine years.

Having completed over 200 projects at Shoppers Stop, he is expected to lead projects for textile and apparel divisions of Raymond. At Raymond, he will be responsible for small scale projects compared to the large scale ones, he has handled at Shoppers Stop.

Keeping the rising interest of customers in ecommerce in mind, textile and apparel major Raymond, led by Gautam Hari Singhania, forayed online recently with a full-fledged virtual platform called RaymondNext.com. This also includes mobile apps. For this latest step, the company has roped in Vijay Basrur, a digital specialist who has worked with online startups like Quikr and Bazee.com. And for Sanjay Behl, who took over the role of Chief Executive Officer in July 2013, the mandate is to bring right people on board while driving social media and e-tailing.

Textiles enjoys almost 44 percent share of Raymond's revenues, followed by branded apparel and denim. The company, which opened its first retail shop in 1958, plans to add 150 more in FY15 to its existing countrywide network of 954.
