Delhi-based Ahujasons Shawl Wale, known for pashmina shawls, is planning to expand its reach to overseas markets such as China and the UK by next year. The 36-year old company, which made a debut in Japan last year, is also establishing its own e-commerce platform. Ahujasons retails high-end pashminas and mill-manufactured shawls, stoles and mufflers, ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5 lakh.
The company had earlier announced its plans of investing around Rs 140 crores to expand its retail footprint across India and overseas. The company aims to open twelve showrooms in India and six in international locations in the next five years. At present, Ajujasons has two retail outlets in Delhi and one in Tokyo in Japan. The company plans to open showrooms in Kolkata, Hong Kong and Beijing by next year.
Ahujasons earns around 60 percent of its total turnover from exports, and despite its domestic expansion plans, it would continue to focus on exports to increase turnover. Founded in 1979 with its first store in Delhi, Ahujasons Shawl Wale began exporting its products in 1992 with opening of first overseas office in Paris.
