Cairon confident about achieving 18-20 per cent growth

Cairon International, one of India’s oldest shirt manufacturer has been growing in double digits in recent times. The company is hopeful of achieving 18-20 per cent growth this year. They are in the process of expanding their span, operation, consumer base and, more importantly, their e-commerce retail. The latter, they are confident, would help them to clock 30 per cent growth in the future.

The company, which doesn’t see big brands as rivals, is confident of its products and acceptance among the masses. Presently, they are working on a variety of fabrics this season which are all sourced from the mill. The latest in their collection is the club wear range, which has new designs and patterns. Their collection has shifted from a more formal range to semi-formal one. And as such there are a variety of accessories and buttons that are being used on the shirts.

Smart shirts make the man

Shirts can be defined by their use at a particular time, such as day shirt or night shirt. They are not defined by their appearance or features. Cairon is very particular about the fabric used for shirts. They work purely with best quality fabric, holding two time more worth and value on the actual prices at which they are available in the market. Fabrics used for the shirts include cotton, fine dobbies, prints and linen. Double lazer and MOP buttons are more in demand in terms of accessories. Prints are much in demand. Owner Durgesh Aggarwal explains, “Our definition of shirt is that the person who is in it should look smart whether he is going for a party or in an important office meeting. So, making smart shirt is our motto.”

Young keep the trends alive

The target consumers for Cairon are the youngsters, who make the largest chunk of Indian market. The company has a wide variety in both colours and fits to attract the youth. From subtle to bright shades, and from youth to urban fits, Cairon has it all. Youth fit is more popular, considering it is slimmer and fitter, and as name itself suggests, it is youth-oriented. Even urban fit is popular. It is a combination of regular and youth fit.

Cairon is present in 23 states such as central and Northeast, West and upper North. They are present mainly with 1,500 MBOs. Every year 50 to 60 MBOs are added. Aggarwal hopes to grow in both shirts and trousers segment in the coming years, though the ratio will remain 80:20. “We want to grow in trousers segment also but we have to keep in mind the ratio at which Indian consumers maintain their wardrobe, number of shirts are always higher than trousers,” says Aggarwal. An online portal is also being planned at the moment.
