As one of the most popular brands in the mid-price for menswear, Cotton County Retail is now branching out into many other segments to be launched soon. On the anvil are new launches for men, women and children.

Diversification beyond menswear

Cotton County is working on new products, and lines to expand its presence. For men, it will introduce a new brand of shirts, trousers, T-shirts and woollens. Also on the anvil is a brand named ‘Rugit’ for men’s denim. This will be launched in Spring/Summer 2016. It is also foraying into the women’s segment with an all new brand which to be called ‘Jaysha’. This will be be launched in winter 2016. The women’s line will have products like kurtis and ethnic wear along with western wear such as denims, T-shirts and tops.

“And we are also going to start with kids’ range as well, for boys. The kids’ segment will include capris, denim, shirts, T-shirts and maybe woolen wears. Apart from that we will also have home furnishings like bed sheets and blankets. The junior wear and home furnishing line may take time as we are still working on it,” informs Rinkesh Gupta of Cotton County Retail.

Building a strong retail presence

Cotton County Retail has a strong online presence through many e-tailing sites like Myntra, Flipkart and their own website encouraging a strong brand recall. It believes in doing everything online, from the booking, wholesale to retail. With their one factory whose capacity is around 3 lakh garments per month, the company is confidant of increasing its turnover to over Rs 50 crores from the present Rs 40-50 crores with the introduction of these new lines.

As a brand that celebrates the natural appeal of cotton, Cotton County is well known in the mid-price segment for its functional textiles fashioned with innovative finishes that merge nature with technique. A leading arm of the Nahar Group, it was started in 2003 with just one outlet in Ludhiana after which it quickly grew to around 580 outlets pan India by 2008. However, in order to cut losses, the company has now downsized to around 100 outlets and more are coming up with different MBOs. They are alos appointing distributors. By March 2016, the brand plans to appoint around 400 MBOs through distributors. All their products are available in their 100 outlets spread throughout India on a franchise basis.

With a high brand recall amongst customers and franchisees, the new product offerings from Cotton County will roll off the factory floors soon. Gupta hopes to be able to position the brand to capture considerable growth opportunities in India's retail saga.
