Delhi Duty Free Services to revamp airport shopping experience

Delhi Duty Free Services is planning to redesign its duty-free outlets to create a walkthrough experiential store with an aim to generate higher sales volumes. The company, which manages and operates the duty-free shops at Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, also eyes increase in retail space through this revamp exercise from the existing 51,000 sq. ft. to 57,000 sq. ft. Work on the project is likely to begin by January 2016.
New shopping experience will be created based upon walk-through stores at many international terminals like Heathrow (London), Changi (Singapore) and Dubai. The full departures walkthrough will replace existing passenger concourse, which has beauty on one side and liquor, tobacco and confectionery on the other side. Delhi Duty Free has three shareholders namely, Delhi International Airport with 49.9 percent stake, Yalorvin with 33.07 percent and GMR Airports holding 17.03 percent stake.
While the duty free zone has been witnessing consistent growth in sales, the number of brands available with the shops has also increased by 15-20 percent. The offerings under the premium category were also increased with the introduction of first Armani Jeans stores in duty free zone along with lingerie brand Victoria Secret and Pandora under the high-end fashion apparel category.
