Future Group to launch ‘Big Bazaar Gen X’ stores

With the festive season taking off, Future Group will launch a new format of Big Bazaar stores under, ‘Gen X’ targeted at the upwardly mobile Indians. The first two Big Bazaar Gen X stores will open at Infiniti Mall in Malad, Mumbai and DLF Mall of India in Noida next month.

These large format stores will offer premium merchandise across categories ranging from food to fashion. The Malad store will also introduce new segments such as live non-vegetarian and bakery counters on the lines of its niche formats like Foodhall. While addressing shareholders recently, Biyani, Chairman of Future Group, said: “A new generation of consumers is emerging. There will be 450 million Indians born by 2021 and how we design our engagement with these consumers will define the long-term sustainability of our business.”

Big Bazaar has also roped in brand ambassadors like Varun Dhawan and Katrina Kaif as a part of its plan to change its image, making it more appealing to the youth. The group will present Big Bazaar Gen X as a completely separate format compared to its existing stores across the country.
