Future Retail bullish on expansion in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir

Planning to carry out aggressive retail expansion, Future Retail is tapping Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir to spread its Big Bazaar chain. The company would open four new stores in Punjab at Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala, one in Jammu and Kashmir and one at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana during this fiscal year.

Big Bazaar recently opened its new store in Rourkela, Orissa, marking its entry into the 100th city. Within the span of last three months, Big Bazaar has opened 17 new stores across the country in cities like Jharsugda, Bhopal, Varanasi and Bokaro among others.

As a part of its ‘Omni channel strategy’, Big Bazaar has also launched its virtual franchise program. Under the Big Bazar Direct initiative, the franchise owners will be provided digital kiosk over which the catalog of Big Bazaars products will be available to the customers. Big Bazaar aims to open about 1000 such stores by the year end hoping to expand to 10,000 virtual franchises.
