Hidesign has big plans for the US market

After a successful presence in the US, Hidesign now plans to partner with distributors in three new markets in 2016. In the second year of its presence in the US, it plans to add many smaller retailers to its list. Hidesign products have been present in the international market for long. But in the last few years, the domestic market overtook international one, so a need to put resources back into their international markets was felt. That’s why the company decided to foray into the US market and look at establishing itself as it is in Australia and the UK.

It was not so easy to enter the international market. The company faced the challenge of familiarising their product in these markets. Also essential was to gain the confidence and trust of customers and retailers. Luckily they had an advantage in the form of a high quality product at a reasonable price. As Vikas Kapur, CEO, Hidesign America, says, ‘it’s difficult to get noticed in a large and developed market unless there is something that makes you special and different.’

Presently, the international market is looking promising. Hidesign has opened with a new distributor in the UAE. Now in the next five years Kapur says that the company is planning to strengthen the business that comes from their recent brand extensions such as shoes, pens, sunglasses and stationery. Shoes will become a significant share of the total business and the management of the company will slowly become professional.
