Hidesign to expand global presence through ecommerce and stores

India’s premium leather brand Hidesign, plans to expand its footprint in foreign markets such as the US by opening stores as well as through ecommerce. Unavailability of quality retail spaces in India is one of the reasons behind this company’s decision. As per a CII-JLL report, 14 malls in India will make an exit from retail operations in the near future. Though Delhi-NCR is called the 'Mall Capital of India' with over a hundred malls, just a dozen in the region are successful, it said.
Hidesign is already expanding presence in countries such as Dubai, Oman and Malaysia, by partnering with distributors to manage the brand's sales. Ecommerce sales now contribute almost 20 percent of the company’s total sales against 3-4 percent a couple of years ago. With its own web platform witnessing a 130 percent growth this financial year, it qualifies at the fourth position out of its 70 stores in the country.
After opening a store in Jammu recently, the company aims to launch eight to 10 stores in India this year including a few airport stores. It recently opened stores in Mumbai's domestic and international terminals, and at the T1 terminal in Delhi. It is planning to open an outlet in the T3 international terminal in Delhi.
