Fashion ecommerce portal Kaaryah has raised pre-Series A funding from Aarin Capital chairman and former Infosys board member TV Mohandas Pai and investment firm The Saha Fund. The portal offers western wear customised for Indian women. The company founded in 2014 also sells branded clothes on other marketplaces such as Jabong, Snapdeal and Myntra.
Kaaryah provides well fitted, functional, feminine and fashion-forward western formal wear. The brand focuses on bridging the gap between western formals and the Indian silhouette. Comfort is a key product feature along with solutions to problem areas like gaping buttons on shirts etc. Also, it introduces 150 new designs every month. Kaaryah offers 18 sizes and there variants in each size, petite or regular or curvy. Nearly 55 per cent of are from non-metros.
The brand customizes but in a standardised manner. It found for instance that Indian women struggle with camouflaging their midriff, a problem area for them. So it has come out with clothing which does that. Every month, the design team works on a new problem area. The aim is to become the largest brand of western formal wear for women.
