Having adopted the app-only format, fashion store Myntra is focusing its energies on designing and launching clothes and accessories with the help of data science and artificial intelligence (AI). The Bangalore-based retailer has developed a smart WWW robot or bot that accumulates fashion-related information from across the online world, which is used as a base to design new products. The pilot initiative is used by a 30-member team to crack a huge amount of data to understand the consumer demand in real time.

After testing the AI-driven designs, the company plans to build a AI-based fashion platform that can constantly keep updating on what the consumer is looking for. Myntra will launch a separate brand around this platform next month and then open up the technology for others to use by next year. After first trying to woo customers with deals and discounts, the focus in now on retaining them by offering what they are looking for.

Ecommerce firms’ latest strategy is helping them understand consumer preferences and fashion trends, to offer accurate product personalization and recommendation for different consumer profiles. Myntra, Jabong, LimeRoad, Snapdeal and Amazon are taking advantage of the content and social engagement by their customers, both online and offline, to serve their customers in a better way.
