Planning to aggressively expand presence in south India, Navy Blue Clothing Company sees good potential in loungewear business. “Every segment in active wear is growing well. We see a good potential in loungewear, and are coming up with a new line of loungewear by next year,” informs Subhash Vadalia, Proprietor, Navy Blue Clothing Company.

In both, sports and casual wear, the company is witnessing 25 to 30 percent growth. Citing reasons behind it, Vadalia says, “The active wear segment as well as this industry is growing tremendously and many factors are working in favour of it. People are more receptive to new things. They are more fitness consciousness and want something specific to wear on every different occasion. Moreover they have more spending power.”

Expansion through MBOs on the cards

The brand has spreads its wings through MBOs and is with about 700 MBOs at the moment. “We do not have any exclusive store, nor are we planning to open one. As far as large format retail is concerned, we may start talking to them by next year. We enjoy pan-India presence,” asserts Vadalia.

With a production capacity of 500 to 600 pieces per day, the company is also planning to launch its range online. “Since online medium is good to reach out to larger numbers, we are in talks with Snapdeal. Soon you may see us on online portals,” he avers.

A complete T-shirt brand

A sports and casual T-shirts brand, established in 2002, the range from Navy Blue Clothing is not restricted to a particular target audience or a specific class of people. “We are completely a T-shirt brand, offering round necks, v-necks and polo T-shirts in our portfolio. We do both, fashion as well as basic products. The price for the entire range starts from Rs 495 and goes up to Rs 1,595,” explains Vadalia.

This season, Vadalia points out, prints have good demand. “Polo T-shirts are also having a great run in the market. The colour palette is mostly dominated with regular pastel and light shades. Fabrics in use are 100 percent cotton, pique and sinker,” he adds.
