Oxford to ink franchising deal with Madura Garments

The University of Oxford is said to be in talks with Madura Garments to ink a franchising deal to sell its apparels in India. Oxford, a wholly owned arm of the British university runs a successful branded merchandise business across theworld.

The company plans to retail categories like fashion apparel, accessories, education-related products including school bags and stationery, home interior and lifestyle products, luggage and even furniture in the country by 2015 through offline as well as online retail channels. The company is eyeing tie ups with different franchises partners for different product categories. In future, it would also explore potential partners for luxury ceramics, kitchen-ware and home decor, luggage and vintage furniture.

Earlier, online fashion shopping portal, Myntra.com had partnered Harvard University to sell its exclusive apparel line in India. Through this partnership, Myntra launched its strong knits line of sweatshirts, Polos, tees, track suits in the first phase. In the second phase, Myntra will introduce a line of on-campus wear or smart casuals.
