Kids’ brand Ocean was launched in 1985 after gathering experience in garment manufacturing. The company is looking to introduce a range for girls from 5 to 15 years by next summer. “For girls, we would have basic items such as capris and knee length bottoms. These have a good demand. We are planning to introduce a shirts range also,” says Dalsukh Trivadia, Owner, Ocean, elaborating on the company’s future plans.

Wide bottom wear range

Ocean, with offerings like bottomwear in denim, cotton, corduroy uses fabrics of superior quality. “We follow international trends and have different washes in denim such as dirty wash and spray wash and used fancy colours such as maroon, mustard, rust and white,” informs Trivadia.

The brand was launched introducing nylon half pants, followed by cotton full pants as well as three fourths. The brand makes bottom wear for boys between 4 to 14 years and has a funky designer range for children between one to four years of age. At Ocean, utmost care is taken to design and manufacture clothes that allow children to be comfortable and free. Quality fabrics from leading mills, safe and reliable imported accessories, cozy and comfortable fits ensure that each product matches international quality standards.

Expects positive business growth

The company has around 1,000 clients in India. “Kids’ wear was challenging in the past but now things have simplified. Earlier, we would go to the clients ourselves. People were not fashion conscious and accepted whatever product was on offer. But now the situation is different, even a child has own choices,” opines Trivadia, talking about changing market dynamics.

The company is in talks with ecommerce channels Flipkart and Snapdeal and may soon launch its range on these platforms. “Online has its own positive and negative. Garment shopping is always satisfactory when done in physical store, but establish our presence further, we want to go online,” asserts Trivadia.

The market is so big that one can grow equally well, no matter how many players are out there. The company expects to see 15 to 20 per cent growth this year. It also plans to increase its production capacity, which currently stands at 8,000 to 10,000 pieces per day.
